Other News NEWS RELEASE SUCCESSFUL TEAM EFFORT CONTINUES 11th Annual Weed Pull, Fun, Food and Prizes The Rocky Mountain Front weed roundtable would like your help in reducing the impact noxious weeds have along the Rocky Mountain Front. By participating in the weed pull and other weed events in the area, we can do something to control the spread and establishment of noxious weeds and how it is impacting us all. Help us and your fellow Montanan’s take a stand by saying “NO MORE! We will not contribute to the spread of noxious weeds.” It can be easy and fun - just participate in the 11th Annual Sun Canyon Weed Whacker Rodeo on July 12, 2008. Where else could you receive a pair of gloves and tons of cool prizes and spend a day in one of the most scenic areas Montana has to offer! To date, more than 500 people have participated in this annual event making a significant dent in the area knapweed patches by pulling over 10,000 pounds of the weed Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the activities will start at 9:00 am. During the 11th Annual Sun Canyon Weed Whacker Rodeo we plan to provide educational presentations and materials for the public to learn noxious weed management and their role in preventing noxious weeds from spreading. The event will start at the Beaver Creek turn around and the base of Gibson Dam. When the charm of pulling spotted knapweed wears off, enjoy the splendid beauty of the Front Range and partake in the free lunch provided and weed fighting partners. The educational presentations are designed to be informative and solution oriented. Ultimately the group will be inspired, enlightened and, frankly, moved to the point of weed pulling hysteria. The mob of weed wranglers will be turned loose on the Sun River Drainage system, to engage in blissful weed plucking and bagging. We want you, your family or community group or club to assist us in making this event happen. An activity of this size and importance does not happen with out the dedication and coordination of the many sponsors. Special thanks goes to the many partners who help pull this off each year. If you would like to learn more, have any questions or would like to pre-register your family, group or club, please contact the Sun River Watershed Group. They can be reached at 727-4437 or email at arollo7@msn.com.
